Presented at the 2007 Detroit North American International Auto Show, Lexus LF-A supercar concept is equipped only with a V10 engine that produces more than 500 horsepower.

The new LF-A is very different from the IS-F, but they share the same DNA, heritage and design philosophy, Prominent in both vehicles, F ” designation was first conceived nearly 20 years ago with a project internally coded “Circle-F,” with “F” stands for “ship.” This is the original code for what became the Lexus Division. Appointment Circle-F is more developed into a code name Ship One, or F1, and the first F1 concept developed into Lexus’s first vehicle, the LS. Since then, F ‘”code has come to mark a special program within Lexus vehicles which fall outside the normal engineering and development process.

LF-A Sports Car Concept LF-A sports car concept was originally shown at the 2005 NAIAS to express a bold new direction in styling for the Lexus brand. The same purpose for the new LF-A: To build a supercar with world-class performance that is uniquely Lexus. As with all new Lexus vehicles, styling of the LF-A is rooted in a design direction called L-finesse. L-finesse concepts used to shape and detail the original LF-A, and is used to reshape, redetail and redefine this latest version. Lexus has further refine the new styling of the LF-A to enhance the exotic nature with the use of more of the curved surfaces and interesting details.

“The first LF-A is a pure concept, but one that we went so far as to conduct engineering analysis,” said Bob Carter, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. “This latest concept is closer to the vehicle that will carry us into the market, and one in which we will measure consumer interest.”

Production version LFA finally revealed in October 2009. Shipping the car was first started in the year 2010.
