Nissan plans to make this facility a global export hub. The alliance has already invested Rs 2,900 Crore in the 64-acre facility. The Chennai, India facility was inaugurated in March 2010 and the new car in India, Nissan Micra will be produced there.

Bookings for the small car are already open, the car is being displayed in showrooms, the production has begun and the car will be on the Indian roads in July. The made-in-India car will be exported to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
